20 PER CENT OFF REGO SET TO SAVE SUNSHINE COAST LOCALS OVER $36 MILLION

6th August 2024

• All Queenslanders set to benefit from a 20 per cent cut to rego over the next 12 months.
• Reduced rego costs have now begun appearing on bills issued from 5 August 2024, and payable from 16 September 2024.
• On the Sunshine Coast, locals are set to save over $36 million on rego over the next 12 months.

The Miles Labor Government is delivering huge rego bill relief to all Queensland drivers.

The 20 per cent discount has been applied to all bills issued since Monday (5 August), which are payable from 12 September 2024.

More than 442,000 eligible vehicles are registered to private owners and businesses through the Sunshine Coast Regional Council and Noosa Shire areas.

Savings range between $69.35 for a one – three-cylinder vehicle and up to $200 on a nine – 12-cylinder vehicle.

That’s expected to put more than $36 million in savings back in the pockets of Sunshine Coast locals.

The mammoth cost of living initiative is funded through a $435 million package, delivered as part of the 2024 State Budget.

It’s one of a number of savings and concessions provided to Queenslanders – totalling more than $11 billion this financial year.

Already, $1,000 energy bill rebates have been credited to Queensland households – increasing to $1,372 for eligible concession card holders – and all public transport fares have been slashed to a flat 50 cent fare.

All common vehicles and light trailers are eligible for the 20 per cent discount, regardless of use.

Concession card holders will receive the 20 per cent cut on top of their existing half price discount already provided by the State Government – making rego essentially 70 per cent off.
