8th August 2024
• Miles Government grants to support Agricultural Shows, local economies
• New round of annual program gives boost to 130 show societies throughout the state
• Grants to help deliver new infrastructure and upgrades of showground facilities
Agricultural Shows and local economies across the state, including the Sunshine Coast and Noosa Local Government Areas, will continue to thrive with the Miles Government’s $2 million Show Societies Grants.
The 2024-25 round of the annual program provides financial support for operating costs associated with running annual agricultural shows.
The funding can also go towards new infrastructure or upgrades and maintenance of showground assets.
Grants range from more than $5,000 for small rural show societies to $150,000 for the Royal National Agricultural and Industrial Association of Queensland to stage the Ekka.
In the Nicklin electorate, the Kenilworth Hall, Show & Recreation Ground Association Inc. will receive $7,405, and the Sunshine Coast Agricultural Show Society Inc. will receive $37,229, in the latest funding round.
The Noosa Agricultural, Horticultural & Industrial Society Inc. will also be receiving $13,393.
Allocations are being provided to show societies in August to support their 2024-25 shows.
Quotes attributable to Rob Skelton, Member for Nicklin:
“Our Agricultural Shows are a much-loved part of Queensland culture. Not only is it a showcase of our regional communities, it also provides a huge injection for local economies.
“That’s why this government invests to support agricultural shows in all corners of the state, including through new and upgraded infrastructure.
“The Kenilworth, Sunshine Coast, and Noosa Shows are all fixtures of our community, and this grant is vital for them and the volunteers who work tirelessly to run the events each year.
“These grants are just one of the many ways the Miles Government is doing what matters for Queensland.
